THE ELASTIC BAND

In 1988, The Elastic Band began life as part of a touring project for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Tours for the Victorian and SA Arts Councils (91 and 93) followed, and a series of Community shows performed regularly in the delightful surrounds of the Box Hill Community Arts Centre. Since then, the group has performed thousands of concerts/shows, giving many children their first taste of concert-going, with funny programs of superlative quality presented with style and flair. The group still performs by request. Annabelle Clucas was the pianist from 1988-2004, and is heard on “Classic Elastic”. Annabelle also provided much fine arrangement for Trio Grande and with her smooth and seamless expression, was an integral part of both trios for all that time. From the outset, the trio was piano, violin and woodwinds, with Adelaide an occasional guest artist, and Dominic a rare appearance. In time, Adelaide became a lead performer, and Dominic a frequent guest.

TRIO GRANDE

arose from friendly chamber music sessions at home, and found a commercial outlet in Weddings, receptions and formal concerts. When friend Mary Kenneally, writer and comedienne, wanted to do a couple of seasons at Mietta’s in Alfred Place, the Trio undertook to provide the musical backing. Mary’s repertoire of funny and moving items, from 1900 to the present, provided much fascinating and enjoyable material which was also performed in The Victorian Arts Centre, Rippon Lea, Morning Melodies and many private functions. This group gives formal concerts as well as playing for weddings and receptions. Hush Collection vol. 1 is a popular selection of soothing classics recorded in 2 brief sessions, but has sold well.
